Pachur Forah

Written by Artgalles

Named by the Mirran with its translation meaning paper forest. The Puchar Forah sits mostly inside of Sey with parts sticking out into Enser. It was originally a holy forest, but the modern use is as a way to hunt for meat, get fire resistant lumber or for arable land.,

Geography

The covered expanse of hills tightly wound together, the light fades as you pass the fringe. As the lights fade to shadows with only the hints of light peeking at you. The trees standing apart, grazing hands across its bark that peels off like paper, it feels like running your fingers through beach sand. The treetops twirling branches in one forming a roof to prevent penetration of light. The ground where you step presses in lightly with moss and small weeds been crippled. The air is moist with a faint mist tracing the floor of the forest staying stagnant. The hills roll on complex shapes and angles making ledges slowing passage down. Small bushes and branches with jagged edges leaning out towards you grazing you as you keep your eyes looked out for whatever is watching you. The faint creek as you step with nothing else lets out even the fainted whisper. The few paths created by animals stand alone drawing you further in. The deeper in you go the more you pick up on the odour of a carcass laying just off the path. Paths draw up to small lakes remaining still and dormant, but not sleeping, not breathing, yet not dead either.

Ecosystem

It is filled with a great many animals that call this place home: horses, bears, dear, owls and many more. There is an absence of insects to travellers passing through as most make up their homes inside of the trees or deep under the moss away from predators. Many birds pass through but scatter as any danger approaches. The paths lead to small lakes used to replenish themselves, but there isn't much food so most consume moss, insects, few fields or are carnivores. The canopy of the forest allows letter light in which protects the insects from the raging heat of summer, as well as lowering the intake of cold winter air.

Natural Resources

The Pachur tree has wood that is moist and resistant to burning which proves useful to the Ashen, but to the mirrans of old, it is mostly useless and only removed for space.

History

The forest was seen as a sacred land by the mirrans in their early days, but through time it has become a place of murder and betrayal with many friends and family turning on each other and leaving their bodies to rot in this place.

Tourism

Many mirrans that follow the original cultural view it as a holy place where one must be careful when passing through and if building a settlement tributes must be given. This was used as the original pilgrim site in the early days of worship.
