Yig

The Yig are a reptilian species, most have long serpent tails used to lunge attacks. This tail originally was used when they were Nerake swimming in the ocean but adapted to the desert of Sembar allowing for ease of movement. Their features include a forked tongue, sharp poisonous fangs, slitted eyes, scales all over. These scales are often in sandy olive greens, but may vary depending on the environment they are found in. Some yig have interbred with Mirran, dusk orcs and Icuth-os creating a few bipedal yigs who are mostly treated as outcasts.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Most have a large tail that is long and thick used for traversal and lunge attacks. Two arms with five fingers on each hand, the nails are more almost shaped like claws. Their eyes are slitted with pigments of tangerine and pale ivory. The outcast group look more Donhuid, some fully covered in scales and some with hardly any.

Genetics and Reproduction

After mating the female lays a few eggs which are looked after by the male.

Growth Rate & Stages

A rapid rate of growth till the teens, and slow growth till death with skin been shed along the way.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They typically farm where possible, but in the desert, most have resulted in mining for Wrumen deposits or to slay the beast for its meat.

They have a really potent sense of smell and see in infrared.

Naming Traditions

Names are given by taking the eldest parents name, this name is eventually replaced when a feat is accomplished, it could be minor or legendary. They don't have surnames and follow their name by their profession or place in society.

Major Organizations

They mostly fall into the empire of Ekans. Many have fled to neighbouring empires to escape the sacrifices, but most of the zealous ones remain.

History

As the Levithan arose and brought destruction to the Tarakut Alqulada ocean, the Nerake's fledge to the closest land splitting the race and causing them to adapt to their new environment. The Yig moved to Sembar, through its harsh sands they made tributes and sacrifices to keep the leviathan from coming to them. But as soon as they stopped it emerged and brought destruction to their home, with help from the Icuth-os they slew the divine tyrant and built a city with its scales. To prevent the tyrant from been rebirthed through an act called shedding sacrifices and offerings are made yearly.
