Apollo Mahadeva
Primarily Played by: Asterinomous
Miami's Moonstruck Virtuoso Dylan Bledsoe (a.k.a. Apollo Mahadeva)
Raised on Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, and the Mortal Kombat soundtrack, Dylan Bledsoe resolved to become a rock god when he was fourteen. By the time he graduated high school he was fronting one of the hottest bands in South Florida while still living in his parent's modest middle- class home in Coral Gables. By then he was no longer Dylan, he became Apollo Mahadeva, lead vocalist and guitarist for Wayward Youth. He upset
his mother by deciding against going to college but was soon enjoying enough of an income that he could move out. He followed the band to Miami, where Wayward Youth became part of a highly competitive music scene. After causing some buzz, it soon became clear after several tours and opening acts that “it” was not going to happen for the band.
The original members gradually quit, but Apollo persisted, refusing to give up on his promise to himself. He subsisted on studio sessions and busking for change, surfing sofas night-to- night. He grew depressed over his failure and the indigent existence that had become his life. When the Sabbat recruited him randomly in preparation for a war party, he felt little loss over the end of his mortal chapter. Damnation, however, brought even new sufferings, ones Apollo inherited from his maddened clan.
All Malkavians are insane, and for Apollo his derangement is paracusia, or auditory hallucinations.
He constantly hears voices talking, often saying derogatory things about him. At times, he also hears music, frequently discordant and always alien, that makes him grind his teeth and tense his muscles. A compulsion to recreate these macabre symphonies has led him to compose songs once again, primarily through experimental electronic music spliced with the recordings of human screams. Through the patronage of The Black Pearl , whose coven Apollo joined, the artist has won fans who, if not exactly struck by his music, appreciate Apollo for his performances, which are always well-stocked with “refreshments.” By no means “critically acclaimed” among the Sabbat art world at large (such as it is), Apollo is still extremely popular in South Beach, where he continues to host concerts for his latest record work. For young Sabbat especially, an invite to an Apollo performance is a widely sought-after ambition.
Most vampires who know him personally consider Apollo a flighty, offbeat personality normally only half-listening to anyone, even people conversing with him directly. None know that Apollo has come to understand the origins of these messages. He innately knows that these disembodied voices are from the so-called Madness Network, the psychic web connecting vampires of Clan Malkavian. Screams come from the Network, as
do secrets and whispers Apollo should not know. He hears conversations across space and time and listens to the ramblings of those destroyed centuries ago. Much of it is gibberish, but over several decades Apollo has become adept at sifting out the golden nuggets.
As of late, he is become enamored of Leila, a long-dead Malkavian MetbuselaL whose mind was uploaded to the Network sometime in the 19th century. Leila has shared tidbits of scandals and misadventures that Apollo has used to blackmail elders in Europe and North America, some Camarilla, some Sabbat, and even a few independent. Through this way, he has amassed a large number of boons that, if called in, could be of great benefit to any recipient. Apollo, however, is content to focus on his music; he has no desire to change his position, uninterested in anything but his own creative expression. This lack of aspiration to power and wealth bothers Leila, who seeks nothing more than to spread mischief and discord. Leila was once a goddess of chaos worshipped in the ancient world, and she is frustrated that her chief acolyte is now a capricious musician of middling talent.
Time in the Network has left her bored and desperate, and her favorite amusement has become sowing strife where she can.
Apollo has started to leave hidden messages in his music, often alluding to things Leila has told him have happened or will happen. This ranges from the trivial indiscretions of others to their intensely personal secrets, and it is only a matter of time before one of these coded references reap a whirlwind. Apollo does not worry about the consequences of his revelations, as he is simply amused in the knowing of them. Leila encourages him all the while in the hopes that something he discloses will lead to the bedlam and bloodshed she desires, even if it means Apollo's end.
In recent nights, several victims of his blackmail have placed bounties on his head, something Apollo is as of yet unaware of. He would almost welcome assassination attempts as a break from the norm, and certainly Leila would be entertained. It is possible that he would enlist the help of another pack in Miami to “sort out” the price on his head, or at least those seeking to collect on it. The Pearl would be willing to assist Apollo, but Apollo wishes to keep his mentor separate from his “personal hobbies” unless necessary.
Apollo is moody and withdrawn, but not altogether unpleasant. He attends major Sabbat functions and is highly active within the Theater, and more than the others is usually somewhere in the Pearl's immediate orbit. He is indifferent to sect politics and religion, and for this reason has made contacts in various other packs, where few know how powerful any ally he could potentially be. Often his eccentric behavior drives off would-be friends, who cannot put up with his fondness for drama.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Apollo is a tall handsome white man with a skinny, lanky build. He has a shock of jet black hair that he wears with lots of length and volume, and with an abundance of eyeliner. He looks like what he is: a flamboyant artist of a bygone age. This causes him to stand-out in most mundane situations, although this never seems to face Apollo or how he interacts with the world. He favors tight shirts and equally tight skinny-fit jeans and trousers.
