Enrique “Kiki” Figueroa
(a.k.a. The Night Librarian)
Enrique's father, a textile worker in Veracruz, died in 1907 when the Federal Army violently
repressed the strike that he and his fellow employees were leading. His mother killed herself not
long after the funeral. Turned over to an orphanage, the small and bookish child soon learned that life among the sisters and the older boys would be a hard one. The same bully who used to tease him every day gave him the “Kiki" nickname that has followed him ever since. To protect himself, he learned to trade in secrets and deceptions, to pick locks, and to flatter the gullible.
Through intrigue, he always stayed one step ahead of his enemies while never actually sticking out his neck himself. His own ambitions, however, were modest, he wanted to be left alone with his books and studies. When he came of age, he entered the Catholic clergy, finding the prospect of entering the “real world” too daunting. He decided not just to stay in the Church but to become a cloistered monk, to purposefully keep his world small and more manageable. He did not, however, anticipate crossing paths with a vampire centuries-old in pursuit of someone to direct his spies.
This was how Enrique inherited the complex network of informants and conspirators Luis Miguel de Mendoza had built up across Latin America. He then refreshed it, replacing those assets now lacking value and finding new useful contacts. It is a process he has repeated many times over the years. Unlike his sociable sire, he seeds and nurtures his contacts indirectly, through letters and mutual acquaintances. The more he learns about people, the less he likes them, and therefore the less he wants to do with them.
Since coming to Miami with his pack, he has compiled an enormous digital library with files on the many Sabbat vampires in the region, their opinions on and relations with Miami, the key Camarilla principals in the Southeast U.S., and more. For this reason (and for being a humorless killjoy), he has become known as “the Night Librarian,” the best resource for knowledge about the city and its nocturnal denizens. He does not, however, share what he knows with anyone without the authorization of Luis Miguel, who hides things even from other members of La Sociedad. Enrique sees to the security of his servers personally, just as he does to the havens of his sire and other packmates. Even with them, he prefers to interact through e-mails and phone calls.
This severe anti-social streak has proved problematic for Enrique within Clan Lasombra, where politicking is the norm. Rather than play those games he was not equipped to win he simply chose not to play. Within his clan and the Sabbat at large, he is almost a forgotten and unknown entity, and that is just how he prefers things. He desires neither titles nor prestige, only comfort and security. In all political matters he is neutral, and some have even suggested that he is just Sabbat in name only. At this, he only shrugs, the existence of Caine and the Antediluvians is as abstract to him as God and the angels once were. He is more interested in practical concerns, like serving his pack capably.
In recent years, Enrique has become a student of Abyss mysticism, his mortal interest in theology and the sciences replaced with passion for a new form of learning. A student of the Path of Night since his Embrace, he always showed great promise and potential that he is now starting to realize.
Due to his abrasive and misanthropic personality, however, he makes a better scholar than a
teacher. He has started to assemble a large library of documents autLored by Lasombra sages and mystics over the ages, including digitally scanning the original texts of grimoires handed down over eons. Finally, his star within the clan has started to rise, but this is more to his annoyance than relief. He disdains anyone seeking his spiritual advice, but be could be persuaded to offer some of the lore he has on file to other Keepers who demonstrate to him an interest and a talent for the Path of Night, its precepts, and the advanced practice of Obtenebration. Even then, he would be likely to share scans and manuscripts, not serve as a tutor.

General Physical Condition
Enrique looks like a clean shaven, baby faced businessman who could be just out of college. He likes to dress professionally, especially when he goes out in public, which is not often. He has a penchant for suits from Brooks Brothers and stylish eyeglasses.
