Valhan Coffee and Tea
Once an independent coffee shop, the building was recently acquired by Ferns Orchards and turned into the first of a planned series of cafes that are cruelty free, vegan, and ethically sourced.
The majority of the drinks and pastries that are available are vegetarian, if not vegan, and it is the norm for a customer to order something lactose, gluten, or soy-free. In other words, it is expensive and uppity while trying to be down to earth.
The employees, however, are so excited to be working there and making the world a better place. A few of them have smiles that are just a bit too wide, but most seem genuine about how their work here is going to help save the planet.
Most people who used to visit the coffee shop that used to inhabit this building complain that it was a small business being bought out and commercialized, but they don't know the half of it.
Once ran by autumn sidhe Sir Eli Dominguez, the Upper Eastside Freehold has undergone a serious change of management - and while everyone seems happy with their new leader, she is wholly at odds with the freehold's aspect... or is she? Imogen Courtney is glamourous while the freehold is down to earth. She is ostentatious while the freehold is homely. But, to her credit, she is in tune with nature and the cabin that the freehold has taken the shape of is quite trendy; more like the type of thing that's in a Better Homes and Gardens magazine than a Christmas card. Maybe Dominguez was right to let her take command of the freehold...
