The Continent

Perhaps not the most elaborate name, but our Ancestors decided to call it Midrast, aka The Continent. Yet some texts from the Era of Gods suggest there being "the other place" beyond this one. What did they refer to? Dreamscape? No, I am convinced there must be another continent out there over the seas... The question is, where exactly?
— Blessed one Irongrit, Fire dragon Priest and Greencarer.

Geography

The Continent (aka Midrast) is a sprawling landmass inhabited by all known creatures and plants. Currently, it is the only continent known to both Dragon and Gryphonkind, yet rumors and myths about another landmass somewhere out there have been circulating in the general populace for centuries.   Majority of the land is located in the temperate climate, while the southermost parts inhabited by Jungle dragons and Water dragons are subtropical. Only a small portion of landmass is sub-arctic on the northermost part.

Fauna & Flora

Fauna of Continent is hardy and it takes skill and practice for Dragons and Gryphons to catch a prey. For many tribes, they have to either dedicate time and resources into venturing far to the corners of their territories for easier prey or try to slay heavier and more dangerous predators or herbivores.

Feared creatures

Especially noteworthy are Killzillas, giant bipedal T-rex like carnivores who are not beyond hunting even the large Mud dragons.
Kastiliks, great hooved and antlered herbivores who generally attract other herds towards themselves. Their great size is only comparable to Mud dragons, yet their sheer strength and speed remains unmatched, especially when they or their herds are threatened.
Stalking the corners of the shallow waters are Freighorns, a toothy and twisted fish able to shoot grooved spikes underwater at great speed and accuracy against its foes.

Other dangerous animals

Basilisks, known to be a great pest that multiplies far too quickly and can cause severe paralysis with their teeth. They inhabit pretty much all the forests to a greater or lesser extent. Whenever they are believed to be exterminated, they return back a year or two later, however their scaly hides are used for covers and bedding.
Horned bees, while much less dangerous, are generally making up for that with their numbers. Their honey is however a great and pricy commodity and many dragons have learned tricks on how to get to their hives without any severe injuries. As their name suggests, these bees have horns which they ram into anyone that tries to threaten their hives. An effective strategy considering their size is comparable to that of a small wolf.
Rocs, nearly extinct, the number of their great roosts have been reduced to a fraction of their former glory. However, that does not make them any less dangerous, especially in the air. Anyone that provokes such a creature unprepared may find themselves torn open by their great claws and beaks.

Flora

Aside from the standard grade of flowers and trees, there are many flowers unique to the Continent.
Shudue petals are gathered and used by Wingbinders to prepare calming balms or teas for their patients. Its healing potential is well-known, but so is their highly addictive nature.
Korňak trees bear light-blue accented leaves that release their color and aroma when concocted in boiling water, resulting in a very strong, cleansing brew used primarily by Wingbinders as a simple antivenom.
Arak is a red flower with dark blue petal-edges, yet it is well known for its distinct meat-like taste. Araks are cultivated primarily by Greencarers as a cheap ingredient to replace meat and spice up meals for poor, yet are also generally disliked, despite it being proven time and again that they carry healthy doses of vitamins and proteins.

Natural Resources

Continent is stalked by many dangers, yet its natural resources are also quite bountiful. The basic building material is Hardwood, used for simple tools, huts and furniture. Mineral deposits of Sheetstone, formerly known as Shystone, are utilized for writing documents where formerly Clay or stone tablets were utilized. Sheetstone is to a lesser extent also used for disc-shaped weapon known as Slicer, primarily employed by Fire dragons.   While other minerals and ores such as obsidian, iron, tin, silver, gold and similar are harvested as well, these materials are either too difficult to obtain or to transform into a viable tool/weapon to be utilized commonly. As such, many a Dragons and Gryphons will instead use their own claws, or Weaponry made out of flint, stone or animal bones.
