The Imperial Coalition of Valtana

The Imperial Coalition of Valtana is an empire on the eastern side of Costrana ruled by King Samir Shuston Allvine. He has ruled over an ever expanding kingdom for 20 years. While his followers were slow to accept him, his rule is now considered strong and steadfast. The reach of Allvine's rule expands from Valtana's west and east coasts, to the southern edge of the Lifeless Timber. Zel' Vondar was taken in a short military campaign just 35 years prior.

Structure

King Allvine and his wife, Queen Andrea Allvine rule over Valtana. Below him are the advisors of the Court of Allvine, who deal with lesser matters.

Culture

The Allvine Empire originated out of the Plyde Dunes and the ancient desert civilizations that had lived there for hundreds of years. Being culturally different than the people they rule, the empire is generally welcoming of strange or unusual races. They also have great respect for the elders of their societies. The nobility is primarily human, so their lives are shorter lived when compared to elves or dwarves.

Public Agenda

The Imperial Coalition has little need to expand their rule, as they thrive on trade with the various civilizations of Costrana. They aquired Zel' Vondar through a mostly peaceful conquest 35 years ago.

History

After the discovery of mineral rich caves beneath the Plyde Dunes in 691, the Valtanans (an ancient civilization who had lived in the desert for hundreds of years) quickly rose to power among the individual city states of south eastern Costrana. Wielding their newfound wealth, they overtook the surrounding civilizations after years of being at the bottom of the food chain. The Court of the Allvine family was careful not the let the power go to their heads. After some reform of the surrounding governments, they created the Imperial Coalition of Valtana in 788.

Technological Level

Valtana, while generally reserved, is greedy for magical technology. Often in competition with the Guilds of Volagvoros, the Valtanian government sends regular search parties into the ancient ruins and strange locales of Costrana in hopes of uncovering certain relics of the old world. Most recently, they have been eager to find the tools of the Blightslayers, an ancient organization of anti-religious warriors.

Religion

Valtana commonly worships the major deities and is accepting of most religions, but punishes those who worship dark powers harshly.

Foreign Relations

Valtana strives to keep its relations with foreign powers stable, but often struggles to negotiate with the The Guilds of Volagvoros. The Imperial Coalition's relationship to Azleveer and greater Falduune is peaceful.

Education

Valtana has no unified system of education. The individual cities of its reach are responsible for providing educational opportunities based on what they deem to be important. While present in Valtana, schooling is less important to the average citizen, especially to those of coastal cities who mostly see their lot in life as predetermined to be sailors or dock workers.    In Zel' Vondar, Valtana's new aquisition, education is more valued. The schools of Talonor are known for their quality, but are quite selective.
