Sterling Gifts
This simple appearing, single story stone building is tucked into a side street just off of the Royal Road in the artificer's market. The furnishings are nearly all made in the Deep Dwarfs style, leaving the Avel, the tiefling proprietor, to seemingly tower over his surroundings. Ophrad, a silver mechanical cat (and the shop's namesake) wanders about bothering visitors unitl the scratch his ears, or at least pet him briefly. Very little is on display in the windows or on the counters - Avel works almost entirely on comission, and may refuse your request if it does not intrigue him or you come without written introduction from a previous client. If pressed, however, he may admit that he has some interesting devices in stock....

Tangle foot bag:
Grease Bag: 100 gp; spills non-flammable grease in a 10 foot cube, rendering the area difficult terrain. For an added cost, the grease can be flammable (you may need to sign a waiver).
Lock Breaker: 200-400 gp (depending on how much Avel trusts your discretion): this thin glass vial is surrounded a mithril coating except for the very tip and contains a very potent acid. It can be pushed into any mundane lock to crack the glass, leaking the acid into the lock and breaking the mechanism. Unfortunately it may also ruin the door itself (30-50% chance), making it a less than desirable method of entry for most spies and thieves (though Avel is working on it, he swears). If you return the mithril coating, which is immune to the acid, Avel may give you a discount on your next lock breaker.
Revealing Orb: 100gp; Removing a wax seal from this glass orb and then shaking it gently causes it to shed light in a 10 foot radius that provides the effect of a Detect Magic spell for 10 minutes. For an additional 50 gp he can add one additionl charge, up to a total of 5.
Clockwork Collar: 350 gp, one time use (but can be reloaded): Take an action to utter a command word and thousands of needles shoot out in a 20 foot cone doing 6d6 dammage on a failed dexterity save, and half has much if the save is successful. Recharging the collar takes an adventurer 3 hours (faster if they're willing to take 1d6 piercing dammage for each hour saved), though Avel can do it a bit quicker. Needles can be bought for 25 gold, and Avel will re-load it for 50 gp.
