Font of Knowledge
Font of Knowledge is the first planet in the Avar System and capital of the Avarrian Chroniclers. The planet has been developed to the point that the natural lithosphere is no longer discernable from orbit, with every square metre of the world covered by urban sprawl. It is believed that the planet, the homeworld of the Avarrians, was originally a tropical world before the species developed it so heavily.
The Avarrian population of Font of Knowledge lives in a post-scarcity economy, tended to by non-sapient synthetics, and have access to extremely advanced replicators capable of creating nearly any object imaginable. Entertainment venues offer free and instant access to personalised virtual environments with computing power exceeding that of entire pre-FTL civilisations. Residential areas are entirely urban, though significant swathes of the planet appear to be abandoned and subject to minimal maintenance. The exact population of the planet is unknown, but estimates range from the tens of billions to the low trillions.
Despite the planet's urban nature, it appears to be entirely self-sufficient. The advanced technology of the ecumenopolis, through methods currently unknown, allows it to supply its own food and raw materials. All of the menial jobs on the planet are automated through the use of synthetics, and the few Avarrians that work are employed as civil servants or enforcers.
