Howling

Table of Contents
A Werewolf custom for strengthening social bonds.

Execution

The highest-ranking member of the group will begin with a low-pitched howl. The people closest to them, such as immediate family or their direct subordinates, will respond with a slightly higher-pitched howl of their own. After that, the entire group will raise their voices together.

Observance

Howling serves to strengthen or emphasize the bond between the participants, as well as to signal unity towards others.   It is part of social events such as harvest celebrations, weddings, the introduction of a child to the community, or the appointment of a new leader. Hunting groups howl before they embark into the woods, and warriors howl before engaging opponents in battle.
