Kamalian
In the Kadosh, Mehlehkh ordained the xylen to become warriors and leaders in the great army of Iraeth. This proclamation remains the basis of the traditional Xylen ideal, a warrior who is unmoving and grounded, someone who is rooted in his family and home. These values, along with a dwindling population, have fostered a reverence for family lines that have stayed in Kalamia for generations. Xylen are known by the other races mainly for the products their country produces, but stories are told about brilliant Xylen strategists who excel in neutral magic.
Culture
Foods & Cuisine
Xylen eat a diet consisting mostly of plant-life with some meats. Because of the emphasis on ecological preservation in Xylen culture, plant-based agriculture is preferred over animal-based due to the vast amounts of cleared land needed for animals. To obtain meat Xylen will send out hunting parties but will rely mostly on rice farms for food.
Ideals
Gender Ideals
Xylen society is extremely patriarchal. In a familial unit men starting at age 18 can challenge the patriarch for his position in tests of strength and skill. This, in the minds of the Xylen, ensures rulers remain strong and vigilant. A baron that has been defeated swaps places in society with the victor.
Women are expected to work and manage the home. Due to the decreasing number of Xylen, women are encouraged to have large families. Women often work as laborers, craftspersons, or merchants, but in all things, the family comes first.
