Ventrue

Only the clan of kings has the power, the strength to rule and lead. At least that is what the Ventrue want every vampire to believe. The elders among them have been doing this since the times when they ruled Babylon as God-Kings and the youngest follow them. No longer as god kings of a city, but as the rulers of the new power, the financial world.

Since the foundation of the Camarilla, its management has been the responsibility of the Ventrue - and this circumstance has not changed until the modern nights. Tradition, power and domination are the cornerstones of its essence. One of the first things a newly embraced vampire of the clan learns is to recite his line of ancestors. Not just two or three generations away, but back to the beginning, to the Methuselahs and their mysterious creator, Ventru.

Clan Weakness

While other vampires may prefer a certain type of prey or exclude another, Ventrue are fixed on a certain prey scheme. Nobody knows exactly what causes this imprinting, but it is known to manifest itself with the first hunt. Drinking from another person who does not fall into this special prey scheme causes the Ventrue to regurgitate the drunk blood immediately and expel it from the body.

The prey schemes of the clan are as different as the vampires who are part of it. Some may only drink from a blonde secretary around 20, while others prefer the blood of male virgins. The more abstruse the prey scheme, the more likely the Ventrue is to get into serious trouble when its preferred prey is threatened. It is because of this flaw in particular that many Ventrue keep larger groups of people as herds from which they can drink without danger - and which are under their personal protection.

Woe to anyone who thinks a blue-blooded man is a paper tiger and therefore attacks the herd.

Ventrue Bloodlines

Alexander of Paris

Alexander appeared more like a Toreador than as a Ventrue. His descendants love an Audience - and they are good at it. Performance and Persuasion are traits which are natural to them.

Antonius

Strategic genius, planner, learned scholar. All these traits are something the decendants of Antonius value - and how they chose their progeny. Until modern nights this bloodline consists of strategists, be it on a physical battlefield or on a financial one.

Mithras

Stubborn, powerful Mithras. Prince of London. Some claim, that he was the most powerful Ventrue, and others tell stories about him being immune to flames. Even his decendants seem not to fear the flames as much as other Vampires do.

I find these guys really interesting, from the different bloodlines to their weakness. I wonder what the most inconvenient prey scheme ever was?

In one of our chronicle we had a Ventrue who could only feed on black-haired, blue-eyed warriors. That's something you can hardly find today :D
