Gibbet Woods

The Gibbet Wood is a bleak grove found between Castle Themeson and its village. It is the site of many great historical and religious conflicts.

Nine gibbets hang from the trees, either filled with emaciated corpses or some starving criminal or troublesome slaves.

The woods have a long history of strange supernatural events with sightings of ghosts and vengeful spirits commonly reported by the locals.

Between 558 and 588TR the woods were used by Priests of Morgath for bloody sacrifices.

In 588TR the Agrikian Priestess Meyasania sacrificed herself to destroy the Tyrant Peserl the Heart Stealer and freed the settlement from Morgathic domination. The flaming spirit of Meyasania is still is said to haunt the woods.

More recently in 714TR the eight knights of the Order of the Red Shadows of Hepra were executed and now haunt the Gibbets.
