Brussulda Oldmace
Brussulda Oldmace is an older, genderfluid gnome doing a solid, though not spectacular job as a cloth and clothing Merchant. They have long, static-prone dark hair that’s almost always either in a ponytail or a bun, and dark brown eyes. Their nose is crooked, and they stand with excellent posture at 3 foot 2 inches, and 42 pounds.
Brussulda is the second child of a well-off merchant family in Baldur’s Gate. Their sister is currently the head of the family, which deals primarily in cloth and clothing, and by this point in their life, little of interest or difficulty came their way. When they were younger there was the trade to learn, and people to meet, and experiences throughout the city to be had, but once their adoptive child, Greada, reached adulthood, the experiences of life felt just out of reach. When word of Mithrite spread, Brussulda jumped at the opportunity to ply the trade in a new location. Brussulda’s family balked at the high likelihood of losing Brussulda due to the dangerous conditions, but Brussulda felt as if life was passing by and they were not living it, so they went anyway. Greada insisted on coming with them to help them run the business, and the two of them bought a house in Eronia Minor before the class distinctions of the hill made themselves readily apparent and stayed to their working-class income. Brussulda made a point to organize the newcomers to their home as they came, checking that needs were met, and feuds were calmed.
They are generally found bustling around with the best of them and are distinctive in the fact that a large portion of their bustling is cleaning up other’s mistakes, corralling confused individuals, and meticulously recording the goings-on. They rarely request things of others and are more than willing to make the occasional exception for a consistent customer. Just because they don’t call in the favors doesn’t mean they don’t know exactly what they are, however.
Brussulda means well – their note-keeping, and organization are meant to keep good relations, as well as tabs on those relationships, but to some it can come across as if Brussulda is attempting to blackmail or kiss up to others. While Brussulda certainly finds it safer to have others owe them than to owe others, and enjoy the wide range of relationships that allows them to foster, the behavior is less due to an underhanded power/social grab, and more due to a chronic struggle to make requests of others. Particularly in such a hectic place, all of their friends are certainly very busy.
