Caravan Camp
The Caravan Camp is made up of a series of longhouses housing the Caravan Guards inside the town's walls. The longhouses are sparsely furnished and offer little comfort or privacy for the guards, as the longhouse interiors are rows of bunks separated from the dining area by nothing but oak support beams.
Outside the walls is an area for preparing the caravan for its daily escort service to and from the mines for the miners. The caravan pulls out at dawn with the understanding that any miner late for departure will not have safe passage to the work sites. To prepare for this daily excursion, the guard must rise in the predawn dark and cold. After the return trip to Mythrite at the end of the day, the caravan guards assist in arranging the miners' carts and equipment for an orderly and efficient departure the following morning. This is a tedious, trying task marked by frequent outbursts and arguments from short-tempered miners, especially if they had a poor showing for their day's efforts at their claim.
The camp was intentionally distanced from the noise from the Entertainment District that can last late into the evening. Caravan guards interested in drinking and carousing late into the night resent being separated from the social hub of the town.
