Fosmuh Khuha
Fosmuh Khula looks old for her 50 years of life with her gleaming silver hair and a face that reflects years of hard work in mines. She grew up in Waterdeep, the daughter of a wealthy and influential merchant. As a teen she fell in love with Bheran, a poor boy with dreams of adventure and striking it rich in the mines. Her family did not approve of this relationship. Undaunted, she followed her heart, eloping and leaving her family behind.
Fosmuh and Behren set out and settled near the Village of Secomber, striking ore in the Forlorn Hills. They made a great team and fortune seemed to smile on them. Pockets of ore never seemed to run out. Though Fosmuh never was able to bear children, she became known as an adoptive and protective mother figure to the children of the village loved to hear her tales of adventure.
One day, their fortunes changed and, living up to the title, ore ran out in the Forlorn Hills. Rumors of abundant ore in the newly formed town of Mythrite led the pair to make the trek up the Loagrann River. So many miners had come to Mythrite that working as independent miners was not viable, and they had little choice but to join as employees for the mining company. Giving up the independence they had enjoyed in their years of mining together was difficult for Fosmuh and Behren, but they were able to make enough money mining in Mythrite to afford a small home in Eronia Minor.
Misfortune struck again when Behren was killed in a mining accident. The official story was that there was a cave-in, but Fosmuh is convinced the mining company is covering up for a monster attack. Although she is less able to do the hard labor of mining work, Fosmuh is known as an excellent guide and prospector with a knack for finding new veins of ore in the Mythrite mines. She is also known as an excellent cook, always making and bringing stews and cobblers to feed the miners and making a little extra money with a side business of selling food to the folks in Eronia and Little Charlamaine.
Fosmuh has always had a love for animals. After Behren’s death, a raven showed up at her house. Convinced that the raven was connected with her husband, she befriended the bird, naming it after her late husband. It can usually be found perched on her shoulder. Fosmuh always seems to have a good grasp of town gossip. Whether this is due to her interactions with miners and customers or use of her raven to gather information as is rumored by some townsfolk is unknown.
Fosmuh is known for her kind and protective nature to all around her. She treats humans, dwarves, elves, and gnomes with respect, and has been called upon as a mediator by the mining company in a a few class disputes.
