Raven Honorbringer

Raven is a booksmart man who can’t live up to his family name. He will never make a choice until he is sure it is the correct one, basically, he will never make a choice until it is no longer a choice. As such he will squander any opportunity given to him.   He sells various books and wines he inherited to get by but, in reality, most of his income is derived from the gambling den he runs out of his backroom and cellar. Being a late investor owns a very small stake in the mine. He is a cautionary tale for anyone who lacks ambition. Raven Honorbinger is not his father Edward Honorbinger. As you might guess by the last name, Raven’s family comes from a long line of adventurers and state heroes and in Waterdeep they were practically nobles. So, he was a child born with the world in a spoon, into one of the most wealthily and well renown families in the kingdom. He had every door open to him and was the Honorbinger’s sole air. Needless to say, he could have chosen anything he wanted to do with his life. He could have learned to be a great artist and studied with the masters or become a governor of a whole colony or even gotten a spot as a coveted wizard’s apprentice and learned to bend fate to his will. But that is the problem with too many choices. Sometimes you just end up not making a choice at all. You see raven was so obsessed with living up to is family legacy that he could never find something that he felt was the correct destiny for his life. He wasted his time drifting from interest to interest recoiling at the first sign of adversity unable to find a clear answer until one day he realized everything single door leading to a bright future had been shut.   And thus he squandered what he had trying to figure out what he wanted to do with it. This is how he ended up alone investing a tenth of his family’s former fortune in a safely profitable mithril mine. Now one of the most well-educated people on the whole Sword Coast spends his days living in backwater boomtown, selling his family’s wine, running crooked games of chance, and wasting more of his life and dreading the day he will be asked what he wants to do next.
