Criminals
It's been said that no one who comes to Mythrite is innocent, but the vast majority want to put any chequered past behind them to live a law-abiding life seeking fortune in the hills. Whereas many Miners see Merchants and Professional Services as engaging in legalized thievery, a very small--but growing?--group however take a more direct route.
Pickpockets and thieves are to be expected in a population of any size, but more organized forms of criminal behavior seem to have taken root. It's rumored that as many as 30% of the Town Guard are on the payroll of some unnamed budding crime lord, and there have been allegations of gambling games being fixed in a very particular way that suggests coordinated efforts. Potent drugs and other substances that are highly controlled and often outlawed in the major cities have begun showing up in small traces in Mythrite.
Everyone knows that the place to go for trouble is The Korf at the southern end of the residential area. Dead bodies and victims of violent deaths seem to emerge from the swamp just beyond with disturbing regularity.
But as any scoundrel will argue, what does it really mean to be a criminal in a town with no law?
