Riso Lizuuld
Raised in Baldur’s Gate impoverished Outer City, Riso Lizuuld knows what it means to struggle. The son of a horsebreaker and seamstress, Riso had little time for a proper childhood as he spent most of his time learning under his father and supporting his family in any way possible to help scrape by. Life got even harder for him when his mother caught the eye of a passing merchant and promptly left her family behind for a better life. Blaming the poor conditions of the Outer City for his mothers leaving Riso did his best to improve the Outer City during what little free time he had with a misguided goal of enticing his mother back home. Despite the bleakness of his home, Riso became known among the people of the Outer City as a true friend to the community as well as a vocal advocate for better living conditions. Even after his fathers eventually passing and his meager business passing to him, Riso continued to find time to help his fellow “outsiders.” After several years of little to no change however, Riso’s hope for a better life turned to anger. Convinced life would not change without action, Riso rallied the people of the Outer City to storm the Upper City and demand better living conditions from the city's leaders and elite. This decision would end in tragedy as the passion and anger from the “outsiders” would eventually turn to violence leaving most of those assembled by Riso dead in a clash with the city guard.
Left with a lasting wound on his leg, Riso would return to the Outer City a pariah as many people blamed him for the deaths of their family and friends who followed him. Pushed from the community he hoped to better and weighed down by guilt, Riso Lizuuld left his home behind and traveled to Mythrite to start a new life. Using the skills taught to him by his father, Riso has spent the last year working as a horsebreaker to make a living. ,
Riso is an easy man to like and an even easier man to befriend. With a rare sincerity, Riso is a breath of fresh air in a city where people are all too likely to lie and cheat to get ahead. Although active in the community of The Halberd, Riso tends to distance himself from those who seem to hang on his words much like those from his former life in the Outer City. Living in similar conditions Riso feels the old flames of rage tug at his soul. Remembering his past failures cause him to repress these feelings however, burying many of his emotions in the process.
