Vehvi Sonthad
Vehvi Sonthad moved to Mythrite seven months ago and was quick to set up shop as a Spice Merchant. Within weeks he had doubled his investment and used those funds to purchase a large quantity of silk. When a neighboring merchant undercut his pricing, Vehivi lost most of his fortune but was quick to bounce back as he reinvented himself yet again, this time as a vintner of fine wines.
Vehvi lives in The Halberd with three roommates in a room considered spacious by local standards behind the local inn. Given the rapid rise and fall of his fortune as a merchant, it’s no wonder he has found himself the source of much gossip and speculation. His tendency to avoid both questions and eye contact has only fueled this characterization further.
Generally a loner, Vehvi deeply distrusts one of his roommates, a shifty fellow merchant who goes by the nickname “The Mule.” The Mule has a well-known history of shortchanging his neighbors, a fact Vehvi had to learn the hard way when he found himself desperate for accommodation after losing most of his fortune in the silk trade. They have had numerous public confrontations, including one brawl which landed The Mule in a public fountain and Vehvi with a burn scar across his left hand. When Vehvi was released from the custody of the town guards the following morning, a stranger cornered him in an alley, accusing him of spying for the Lords' Alliance. Since then, Vehvi has had to navigate running a successful business while fending off rumors and threats from the dark corners of The Halberd.
