Waterfront District
The Waterfront District connects Mythrite to the civilized world. It, along with the residential area, was the first reconstruction project in Mythrite. The docks are built into the Grayflow River and, during the prime of travel, received several boats a day with supplies and settlers who had the coin for passage, avoiding the rugged overland route. In those early days, boats returned without cargo, but things have changed. With the sudden ebb of incoming settlers with the oncoming winter, there are not enough boats to export the raw materials being extracted from the mountain. To avoid having to station guards over goods sitting on the docks overnight, shipbuilders have been recruited to build boats that can handle the wild rivers to transport the precious cargo.
The district is made up of the docks, the loading and unloading area, and a small zone for holding cargo. As the district lies wholly outside the town walls, anything left out overnight is exposed to the wild and subject to potential loss. As a result, the holding zone has few items and those of lesser value. This is also why there is an emphasis on orderly and efficient unloading of ships upon their arrival so the goods can get to their intended destinations without delay.
The system soon became complex enough to warrant the nobles hiring a team of Professionals to manage incoming and outgoing inventory and providing a general accounting of the import/export business. While there is no hard evidence of corruption among them (yet), it is widely known that there is a Criminal element tampering with both goods and their accounting. The complexity of the system is indecipherable to most and errors always have some logical explanation, which is often in fact the truth. It's also known that whoever can influence the docks holds dominion over the entirety of Mythrite, an uneasy realization for many.
