Draugrwood

Draugrwood, located to the east of Port Raven in the Kingdom of Askel, is a dark and foreboding forest, known for being overrun by the undead draugr. These ancient warriors, cursed to roam the forest in death, create an aura of dread and fear that permeates the entire region. The trees within Draugrwood are tall and gnarled, their branches twisted as though warped by the corruption of the land itself. The air is cold and still, with an ever-present mist that clings to the ground, making the forest feel as if it exists in a perpetual twilight.   The draugr, undead creatures of legend, are the primary inhabitants of this cursed forest. Once mighty Northlander warriors, they now wander aimlessly through the woods, their glowing eyes flickering in the dark. Some say they were cursed due to improper burial rites. These draugr are relentless and dangerous, attacking anyone who ventures too close, drawn by the presence of the living.   Though most fear to enter Draugrwood, the forest holds a certain allure for treasure hunters and the desperate. It is said that hidden within the woods are the burial mounds of long-dead kings, filled with the riches and relics of a forgotten era. But these treasures come with great risk, as disturbing the ancient resting places often draws the ire of the draugr and other dark forces that lurk within the shadows of the forest.   The people of Port Raven treat Draugrwood with great caution, avoiding the forest whenever possible. Even those brave enough to enter never venture far, as the deeper one goes, the more dangerous the woods become. The forest has an almost sentient quality, with paths that seem to change, leading wanderers deeper into the darkness rather than back toward safety.   For the Kingdom of Askel, Draugrwood is both a curse and a warning—a reminder of the old ways and the dangers that come with disturbing the dead. The eerie silence and haunting presence of the draugr ensure that the forest remains one of the most dangerous places on the Isle of Askel.
