Fog Bank is a village along the bank of the river Gray Wind, a few hundred kilometres from the city of Fountain.
It was named after the monthly Gray Fog festival, when a gray fog develops along the river and spreads all over the side of the village lining the river. People light lanterns alongside the river and leave offerings for their deceased elders, and any new deceased have their bodies wrapped in white cloth and left along the banks. By the time the next morning rolls around, both the bodies and all the offerings are gone, accepted by the Gray Warden, who is usually just one of the Scribe of Death's 's apprentices.
Before the year of 290, Vega Faden served as the Gray Warden reaping the souls of the village's dead and accepting their living relatives' offerings, before it was reassigned. The new Gray Warden took over from the next Gray Fog festival onwards, with the village being none the wiser as to the staffing change.
