Ombura

Also called "Shadow snakes" or "Sersei Serpents", Omburas are black pythons that can shadowalk . THis makes them famously stealthy and evasive hunters.They take a long time to grow but they can grow to a large size. They are known for their venom which induces euphoric hallucinations and is addictive. They either spray venom on their victim or inject it through their bite.

They are also famously known as one of the dangerous beasts that thrive in Sersei Garden. Thus many mistake them to favored creatures of the death goddess Sersei . However they are favored by the shadow goddess, Osiria .

Basic Information

Anatomy

All omburas have appear as pythons with pitch black scales with line green stripes and eyes. They have small back curved teeth, with two slightly larger fangs that can produce venom. Elder Omburas can grow to become large enough to hunt humans.

Genetics and Reproduction

Omburras are born from eggs. Females will Laid a group of 5-10 eggs in a dark nest once a year. She leaves a special scent that males will follow and fertilize the eggs. The male will then shed their skin around the eggs in order to block the female scent from other males. He commonly will guard the eggs from the shadows. After about 30-45 day the eggs will hatch and the hatching will go their separate ways.

Growth Rate & Stages

Omburas do not exactly have life stages. They are born small at about 5 inches of length. They progressively eat what they can catch and swallow whole. Throughout out their life time they will grow shed their skin and hunt larger prey. They reach Sexual maturity around the age of 5-6 years and live on average to be 45 naturally. Female are typically bigger than the males and have longer lifespans as well

Ecology and Habitats

Omburas perfer dark environment which they can easily navigator and manipulate the shadows for the hunt and to nest. This makes the Blacklins and free forest prime habitats. They are especially common in Sersei's garden.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Omburas are famously stealthy and evasive hunters due to their shadow walking ability. They sneak up on their victims and attack from the shadows. Bite victims to inject their venom and they begin to wrap around their prey and constrict in order to suffocate their prey. Meanwhile they continually inject their venom which can takes 2-6 minutes to take effect. This in turn causes the prey to relax Making them easier to suffocate. Once dead, and ombura will swallow their prey whole. Hence they only hunt that which they can swallow.

Biological Cycle

When a an Omburas is ready to grow in size they will shed their skin. Depending on their diet their shed about once every 2-4 months. However younger oburas shed more frequently and elder omburas shed less frequently. Once they are ready to shed their eyes will temporarily turn black they then will shadow walk out of their old skin. Thus most shed ombura skins are full in tact.

Social Structure

Omburas are highly solitary creatures. they do not even meet when they produce offspring. Female lay eggs that males will find and fertilze. Most meetings of Omburas end in canibalism

Domestication

Due to their highly solitary nature they are not not easily domesticated. Only Certain skill wild mages even use them as familiars. However, Dealers have raised Omburas in captivity in order to harvest their venom, especially with the rise of Arcolight

Uses, Products & Exploitation

  • Venom collected from the fangs of ombura. It induces euphoric hallucination if injected or inhaled. However it also has an addictive quality as well. Commonly used for recreational purposes, which potency can increase in concoctions.
