Throat of the Devourer

The Throat of the Devourer is a massive, volcanic spire in the center of The Scorched Lands. The volcano emits a near-constant flow of lava from its peak and belches dark clouds of soot and ash into the sky, blocking out the sun and causing all flora within dozens of miles to be coated in thick layers of hot ash.
Along the steep sides of the spire precariously sits the kingdom of Olak Vald, whose buildings and streets wind their way around and over the volcano's lava flows.
The Throat of the devourer is the subject of myriad legends from different peoples, cultures, and religions, including:
  • The Throat of the Devourer is a bottomless well of fire, lava, and destruction which will someday engulf the world in choking clouds of soot and ash.
  • Slumbering within the Throat of the Devourer is an ancient and powerful dragon, one which must be appeased or it will spell the doom for the entire region.
  • The Throat of the Devourer is a portal to the Elemental Plane of Fire and/or a portal to the Baator, land of devils.
  • The Throat of the Devourer is a literal manifestation of The Devourer himself, a deity of raw destructive power and chaos.
