Professor Alastair
An ingenious but hideously deformed engineer, Professor Alastair teaches the elite placement course Mathematics, Astronomy & Quantum Physics (MAQ), meant only for the best of the best students at Houndsmoth Manor.
This course prepares students to become aerospace engineers, astronauts, physicists, mathematicians, and astronomers.
Alastair's mindset represents the transformations one must make to become the best and brightest in any field...and the toil it takes on one's body and humility, shaping you into a twisted version of yourself.
Just like its teacher, MAQ is an unusual course at Houndsmoth. You have to apply and be accepted by Alastair (with the permission of Mr. Houndsmoth). Only the top 5% make it into Alastair's program, which is only the beginning. Not to mention, an exit letter from Professor Alastair's class meant acceptance into doctorate programs at the best universities.
Members of the MAQ course take their classes and live inside Professor Alastair's self-contained, anti-gravity observatory. Only joining the masses for the occasional meal, the MAQ students have a reputation for being stuck up and disconnected from the rest of the school.
Alastair himself is very peculiar. The professor has a small, fragile, and malformed body due to several birth defects. He also possesses one of (if not the most) brilliant mind at Houndsmoth.
He designed the observatory and all its artificial gravity subsystems to assist his mobility and continue his work in studying the universe.
Due to his grotesque appearance and ego, he lorded his authority over his students to compensate for his physical limitations. Forcing them to endure demeaning slander and tasks to stay in the program.
None of his students felt comfortable around him, especially the female students. And with a signed non-disclosure agreement swearing them to confidentially, there's nothing his students could do to report his inappropriate behavior.
One of the positive changes that occurred in Season 2 involved moving MAQ classes back inside Houndsmoth.
