Arm-Blades
Arm-blades are a weapon that seems to be unique to Stenza manufacture, consisting of two metal rings on each forearm. When the muscles of the forearm are flexed, the blade materializes along the outer edge of the arm, anchored to the two rings. The blades can be recalled by twisting or flexing the wrists in a specific way. While this method is prone to accidents, it can also be used to summon and hide the weapon at will in a close-quarters combat situation.
History
The modern arm-blade design is part of a long lineage of bladed weapons developed by the Stenza over tens of thousands of years, and is related (technically or conceptually) to spears, battle-axes, knives, and other such weapons. The earliest versions were handheld and thus akin to long, oddly shaped knives, with systems attaching them to the arm itself coming along later and receiving mixed reviews initially. The retractible system had a particularly clunky start but once it was refined it quickly became the standard for arm-blades, allowing them to be concealed with ease. Tactical possibilities opened up, although the accident-proneness of the design led to a mandate that they are only to be worn if one expects to go into a close-quarters combat situation.
