Deepfall Basin

A colossal lake dominating a vast swathe of Londor and dividing Kethra from Brokia. No one has found how deep the basin is as it actually connects to the underdark.

Geography

Though a placid mirror of flat water most of the time this freshwater sea can be swept into massive waves by storms or by creatures lurking deep within its surface. A solitary island with a black wizards tower sits at the center of the basin and as yet none have been able to reach it, ever time a boat approaches a colossal wave capsizes it or a black tentacles rise from the depths snapping it like a matchstick sculpture.

History

The origin of deep fall basin lies in a time before the fist recorded ages. During a war between godlike powers a floating island was struck from the sky. It crashed into the ground leaving a colossal crater that over the years filled up forming deep fall basin. The mountain that had lain at the center of the island became Deepfall isle. 
The residents of the island were very magically magically advanced. This may explain the supernatural characteristics of some of the lakes flora and fauna.
The magic of the islands previous residents was of great interest to Terranon in the time before she was empress. For this reason she set up a research station on deep fall isle, no one has returned to the the isle since as it is now too dangerous.
