Boris Redcliff

Biography

Boris is the oldest brother to Javier Redcliff, former duke of Montera in the Kingdom of Myrtana. As the second son, Boris was not groomed for the leadership of the duchy, like his older brother. Instead of dabbling in politics, Boris turned into a gifted warrior. Wielding a large twohanded sword into battle led to his nickname 'the Red Shroud.'
Boris is a man of action and little words. His brother used his capabilities by employing as on of the primary commanders of the Redcliff forces. He led troops in the Myrtanian civil war and most recently led an expedition into Mulandir to secure most of the ruined city for the Redcliffes in a bid to strengthen their position in the region. He and his forces erected a makeshift fort in the southern ruins, named Fort Ostrosk.
As Boris was leading his forces to victory after victory, he saw with sorrow how his brother Javier supported Maximus Angelos and his Exalted March, believing it a foolish endeavour. When the endeavour failed and Javier got ill, Boris marched to Montera and that same night Javier passed away. According to official sources Javier died of his illnes, but opponents whisper that Boris ended the life of his brother personally.

Boris is a gifted warrior and general. Few can best him in single combat.

Personality

Boris is a serious man that commands respect from his men by leading from the front line. He is known to whittle wood in order to relax. He is a man of war and capable of brutality, but is bound by a certain Myrtanian code of honour.

Boris is driven by a desire to restore his country and his family to its warrior origins. He looks down on the decadent nobles of Myrtana.

Boris is close to his comrades-in-arms and would trust his commanders with his life.

Flaws

Boris is not well versed in the language of diplomacy and can be blunt and rude to most. He is a man of few words and this can easily lead to uncertainty.

Diplomacy

Unlike his brother Boris is not as tied to the old royal line and the church. Many consider him a loose cannon without allegiances, more like a robber baron than a duke of Myrtana.
