Maud Saxe

Maud Saxe, or Ms. Saxe to the children around town, has run the Schoolhouse for quite a long time. She was my school teacher, as a matter of fact! Ms. Saxe is quite skilled at her job because she is very adaptable and seems to have fully embraced the industrial progress that has come to define our canal town. While she hides it very well, truth is that Ms. Saxe has always had terrible luck or maybe she's just clumsy. Getting tripped in empty hallways, pencils and other small items disappearing from her person, branches whipping her in face on walks. Decades of this foul luck has given Ms. Saxe quick reflexes, making her hard to catch off guard and hard to sneak past. This has served her well as the schoolmarm, working against the interests of those that pulled those tricks on her.    Maud Saxe is a good person to go to for information that pertains to things above and below our mortal toil. Maud is happy to give information about the strange things around town, whether that's beasts out of the good book or tales of things that go bump in the night. Anything that she doesn't know, she knows who does. Her fellow academic Amos Church is her go to recommendation, but she is quite well connected from her time and position within Munson.

History

I don't talk to many people in town... but i have a soft spot for Ms.Saxe. I remember her from my days as a young man and she has always been kind to me. Her connections and knowledge about the people places and things here has come in great use to me.

History

Nancy has known Maud for ages, the two of them having exchanged stories and strange encounters since they were young, traveling the thin line that separated Munson from the kind and the uncanny. At the time they had bonded over their shared affinity for fast reflexes, and now in their old age they continue to astonish those who witness the two together.   Still, as Nancy has spent a few years away, she has a lot of catching up to do with her old friend. Nancy has often gone with Maud to see Pitcher tell her stories at the Black Horse Tavern. Whether it's to hear the newest adventures play out, or to laughingly insert their own wild tales for the storyteller to disassemble and weave anew. And with those nights, the two had begun to be reacquainted, making up for the lost years and delighting in the newer mysteries to unravel. When time allows, Nancy also visits Maud and her schoolkids, helping out where she can, and keeping updated on the latest news and fads to be had.
