Lublesia

Lublesia, the rebellious coast, is a small nation on the Northern end of the Circle Sea. Despite being a relatively small nation and well within the Empire of Shar's grasp, Lublesia has maintained its independence due to the prevalence of piracy in the region, the use of privateers by the government.

Early History

In the Age of Gods, what would become the Lublesian coast, as well as much of the early Circle Sea settlements, were under the control of an elven empire known as the Alandi. Devoted followers of the Sun god Volus, the Alandi swiftly conquered or enslaved most of their neighbors, and enjoyed several centuries as the predominant power in the region. However, the Alandi Empire turned out to only be temporary, and by 1300 1e, wars, political shifts and outside influence shook the Alandi Empire apart, with many of the pieces being absorbed into other forming nations. The nation of Lublesia would not formally come together for another 600 years, but in that time the various nations and independent fleets in the region had already begun to form bonds that would last for some time. A hub of trade between the kingdoms of the north and the newly forming Republic of Cepro, the region enjoyed a period of economic boom... and the early forms of the piracy the entire region would be known for in ages to come.

Age of Kings

Being a center of piracy prevented Lublesia from formally confederating until well into the Age of Kings, but in 1013 2e a document known as the Captain's Concord formed the official birth of the nation of Lublesia. While relatively small in landmass compared to the nearby Diocese of Pianzia and Republic of Cepro, Lublesia retained its relevance through economic success, both through trade and "aggressive borrowing" from their neighbors. In addition, this economic success was bolstered by the market Lublesian privateers, pirate fleets that could be bought as mercenaries in exchange for a sizable portion of plunder. Adventurous spirits and daring rogues flocked to the coastal nation, and many privateer fleets enjoyed relative success as a real force on the seas.

Age of the Empire

As the Empire of Shar has expanded aggressively in every direction, Lublesia has lost many of it's holdings, with many of its privateer fleets having since been bought out by the considerable coin of the Empire. However, the rebellious spirit of Lublesia remains strong, and the captains and nobles too stubborn to bend their knee to the Empire have managed to fight for their survival against all odds.

Allies

For most of history, Lublesia's piracy was one of the key factors preventing Cepro from controlling the Circle Sea. Now, however, their privateer fleets have proved invaluable in stemming the Imperial tide.

Allies

Lublesia and Pianzia have always experienced tension as neighbors, but their common desire for freedom has done much to quickly heal old wounds.

War

The Empire of Shar represents the sort of rigid oppression the Concord of Lublesia was formed to oppose, while Lublesia stands as an example of the exact sort of chaos and danger the Empire wishes to remove from the world.
