Half Elves

Elegant and intelligent like their Elven kin, and forward and cunning like their human kin. The Half Elves are truly the ones capable of ruling Eliash, or the entire Dawn Trade Empire. If only they weren't so self conceited.

Civilization and Culture

History

Half Elves are the offspring of Elven and Human relations (specifically the race of Men). Thus, there history is highly tied to the cultures of the Elven Archipelego, and the Principality of Eliash. The first Half Elves were the offspring of Audun and Caledonia, of which there were many. They were highly admired by both the Elven and Elashian populations, as were the first generation of Half Elves. After a few hundred years, however, when the port city of Cambia was an established and bustling trade hub, it became clear that the half elves did not quite fit into the mold of either of their parents cultures. As the island Elves became lest trusting of their Mankind counterparts, they too became less favourable to their Half Elf offspring, seeing them as half breeds who would surely export their resources and not respect their lands or their ways. To the Men, they were seen as tricksters, too cunning to be trusted, and a threat to their women. As such, they learned to trust in themselves and their own resourcefulness.

Half Elves also began to emerge in Eliash, as the Elves their longed to accustom themselves to the way of Man. Their offspring at first were also admired, but as the Elves naturally grew in rank and status, the Half Elves began to look like a weak spot in their racial purity, a tarnish on an otherwise gleaming banner. To the men, they were seen as yet another obstacle in the way to success and fortune, as the Half Elves displayed similar ability to their Elven kin. While still discriminated against, the Half Elves of Eliash fair much better than those of Cambia. Since neither is quite accepted in their respective worlds, Half - Elves are known to wander and set up home in places not so accustomed to the Elven people. Their population is small enough that they are typically a surprise to the people they meet, but also well traveled enough that they are not unheard of to most nations.
