Tremont Smith
The first locksmith to open its doors in Clonio, Tremont’s Tremendous Keys & Locks built its business on a solid foundation: unpickable locks. Each Lock came with only one key, which is the only thing that can open that particular lock. They are quite expensive and require a drop of a customer's blood given willingly in order to craft. Despite this, Tremont Smith, owner of the shop, had cornered the market and amassed a huge fortune as there was no other locksmith that could compete with the unpickable locks he produced. With his riches he gained from his business, he had constructed the finest mansion in the new world, which he named Tremont Manor. Things were great for Tremont until the world renowned artificer, Soggy Steelballs, invented some major competition: the simple enigma lock. While not unpickable, these locks were cheap (and did not require the customers’ blood) to produce and were highly effective at stopping the average home invader and even most professional lock pickers. This allowed it to edge out the unpickable lock as the standard for security. After only one year since the introduction of the simple enigma lock, Tremont had sunk into his niche; since his locks were unpickable, they were still the top choice of the 1% that have things of high enough value to justify the cost of using an unpickable lock. While he makes a lot of money on commissions, those commissions do not come along often. This meant that Tremont could no longer afford his massive mansion, leading him to reluctantly sell it to a wealthy woman by the name of Xaverie. Since then, Tremont has been living out of his shop in Sinclaire Circle.
