Otia (oh TEE uh)

Goddess of Land

CobaltDM - June 10, 2022
Otia, also known as The Wandering Maiden and The Potter, is the Goddess of Land. Together with her brother Cadros, Otia formed the foundation of Mytkora itself. She is also considered to be the Goddess of Fertility, and is prayed to by expecting families so that their babies are born safely. She preferred not to interact much with mortals, finding them rash and undeserving, though she was worshiped by many. She is said to roam across the lands, finding solitary places to sing the most beautiful song ever heard, although many who claim to have witnessed her have been proven to be lying or were otherwise found untrustworthy.

"Otia, the mysterious and the beautiful, may have had the greatest impact on the development of Mytkora. If only we would be so lucky as to hear her song." - Aldernon the Wise

Otia, from the beginning, was a headstrong, independent, and often self-isolating deity. The only one who would often rile her up enough to get a strong reaction was Cadros. She found him too prideful and too rambunctious, but in reality they were perfectly complementary to each other. This showed as they developed into their domains; Cadros became the rock and metals at the center of the world while Otia built the crust and floor of the world that would later become Mytkora. They grew fond of each other over time, with Mestonia's help, and became like kin.   During the Calamity, Otia aided by helping to construct strong defenses against Yparxis' counterattacks. She protected Cadros most of all, saving his life on more than one occasion. She was not overly passionate about the fate of The Reacher, but she did not hesitate to aid Mestonia when she first asked for help. When the battle came to an end and Cadros went to rest, Otia began working with Kebis to develop many beasts of the land, such as wolves, bison, deer, and millions of other species.   When it came time for the creation of humanoids, Otia had a part to play in the birth of almost every race. She stayed with each fledgling clan and taught them the ways of the world, showing them how to farm, hunt, build, and otherwise flourish in the land she built for them. Once each race was established and her services were no longer needed, she began wandering the continents and enjoying her solitude. She would allegedly sometimes visit some of the mortals she helped establish in a form familiar to them, an elven woman made of clay and moss. They took to calling her The Wandering Maiden, and some came together to form a religious ideology in her honor. They called themselves Wanderers, and would lead nomadic lifestyles with the intention of seeing all Otia's work had to offer. Even past the Silence, there are some who still practice this faith all across Mytkora.
