Engines

One of the first creations ever made with Essence were the engines. These devices utilise a somewhat altered Continual Flame spell which is linked to some kind of variable switch - when the flame burns brighter, the powdered essence stored within the engine block burns more powerfully, creating an impressive thrust.

Access & Availability

Although few people would own a stand alone engine, anyone in possession of a Self Pulling Carriage or an Airship would technically own an engine.

Complexity

The design for an essence engine is based on thrust, and so is not particularly complicated. The most complex element is correctly creating the continual flame spell which links to the thruster.

Discovery

The engines were initially designed to power windmills, however their applications quickly surpassed this goal.
