Lord President

The Lord President is the highest rank within the The Empire, and sets its overall direction. Although powerful, the Lord President needs the approval of their ministers to make any significant decisions.

Qualifications

Anyone can run for the position, however usually only wealthy and accomplished politicians reach the position.

Requirements

You must be considered an adult by the reckoning of your species, and you must be a citizen of the Empire. While these are the only two technical requirements, most people who reach the position are also highly charismatic, and are most often exceedingly wealthy.

Appointment

Every 8 a national vote is held to determine who will hold the position for the next 8 years. Anyone can enter the running, and a series of preliminary elections determine who will reach the final poll.

Duties

While the Lord President is technically the overall ruler of the Empire, most can afford to take a more hands off, laid back approach to ruling. Their duties mainly consist of coordinating other, less important individuals, and ensuring the overall smooth running of the nation.

Benefits

While the salary is not enormous, the Lord President is by far the most influential figure in the Empire, with all the associated benefits.
