The Empire
The Empire of the Noon Day Sky - commonly abbreviated to just 'The Empire', Is by far the most powerful of the few nations which have arisen on Nalan. Although much of it's land was taken through territorial conquest just after its founding at the beginning of the Noon, regions under the Empire are granted a great deal of autonomy and enjoy a much higher standard of living.
The Empire is founded on modern ideals such as democracy and egalitarianism - despite what it's name would suggest, the Empire is led not by an Emperor but rather by someone under the title of Lord President, who rules only with the support of their numerous ministers. While this does introduce an impressive amount of fairness to the system, the sheer size of the empire means that it often takes a great deal of time to pass even the simplest changes.
To combat its great size however, and enormous effort was made to harness both essence and magic to turn the capital city of Luminessa into essentially a giant airship, allowing the power base of the empire to fly between regions in order to combat instability and speed up internal change.
Structure
The Empire is led by the Lord President, who can only act with the support of their Ministers. Generally each sector of the Empire will have its own Minister, such as a Minister for War and a Minister for Finance. As well as this each independent region within the Empire is led by a Chancellor, and each city within a region is run by a mayor.

Public Agenda
In the modern day the Empire aims for a combination of economical prosperity and high public opinion. While it does maintain a standing army, it is well known that the few independent nations which still exist on Nalan would never risk war.
Assets
The Empires primary asset is essence, more specifically the enormous amounts of Connection which are said to be stored deep within the cities vaults. The Empire itself controls most of the worlds money simply due to the fact that it physically covers most of the world, however wealth within its borders is usually managed on a provincial level.
History
The Empire was founded at the very begging of the Noon, somewhere between 1 - 10 N, with the construction of Luminessa. From there over the first few hundred years of its existance, it spread to cover much of the world. Records from this time are scarce, however it would seem as though there were very few people, and those who were found joined the Empire willingly.
With the discovery of Essence within its borders, the Empire served only solidify its already concrete position as the key world power.
