The Shards

The Shards make up the expansive mountain range stretches all the way from the western shores of the Central Dominance hundreds of miles to the east. They earn their name from the sharp and jagged points shared by almost all of the enormous mountains here, and serve as a natural barrier between the Northern and Central dominances.
Crossing through the Shards is done normally through the Cretin's Trail, a road leading all the way from Cretin's Gate to Frostshore. This path follows what is thought to be the only break in the mountain range wide enough to be widely traveled. The peaks and depths of the Shards are some of the least explored areas on Nalan, although it is thought that an ancient Dwarven Civilization once lived within them.

Fauna & Flora

It is unknown exactly what kind of animals could live on the jagged slopes of the Shards, however the few Goliaths who roam the range report seeing enormous gorillas with white fur patrolling them. Although blue dragons used to live here, they were hunted to extinction many centuries ago.

Natural Resources

The mountains on the southern border have been found to be rich in iron and copper, however little prospecting has been done in the mountains.

History

Little is known about the history of the Shards. Signs indicate that a Dwarven civilization may have once lived here, however the similarities between the written languages of ancient dwarven and modern giant make this difficult to confirm.
