Karak Azgaraz

A dwarven settlement deep within the Grey Mountains. Connected to the Frugelholm Mountain the dwarves here are smithing masters closely connected to their god Tirus who has granted these dwarves with lots of resources for their craft.

The society settlement exists out of 3 major factions, the Warriors, the Artisans and the Clergy. Each faction mostly consists out of a large pool of middle class workers, a medium pool of acolytes training under the masters and a very small pool of elite masters who have perfected their craft over decades.

A dwarf gets a taste of all 3 of these factions throughout their childhoods and once they come of age they then go on to choose whichever faction(s) they feel most connected to and begin dedicating their lives to their chosen faction(s).

However it is possible for some of the more refined and wealthy dwarves to rise above these factions and become part of an elite group of scholars which are considered the absolute top of society right under the King himself. These scholars are more often than no born into their trade and are responsible for documenting the history of the settlement and it's leader, something very important. They also work closely with the 3 factions, documenting everything that is considered noteworthy for next generations so they can study and learn from them and perhaps even improve society in the future.

Infrastructure

At it's center is the famed Great Anvil, where most of the best dwarven blacksmithing trainers can be found. Ringed around the Great Forge are several foundries, these are the heart of the imperial war-machine.

Guilds and Factions

There are 3 main factions upon which the society of Karak Azgaraz is built.

The Clergy

This is perhaps the most important of all 3 factions as the clergy are all dwarves who have dedicated their lives to serving Tirus. This faction is led by Grand Apostle, Lagertha Faerywink and her 6 Apostles.

The Artisants
These dwarves have dedicated their lives to the art of smithing, this faction is led by a small group of highly skilled master blacksmiths.

The Warriors
These dwarves have dedicated their lives to the art of war and combat, this faction is led by a small group of highly skilled war-masters.

History

This settlement used to be the home of the mighty Magma-Beards, who's heroic deeds are still displayed to this day on various mosaics throughout the city. An ancient clan of dwarven blacksmiths, dedicated to the craft of forging weapons out of magma. However it is unknown to this day how they were able to achieve such things.
