Sable Sirens

The dread Sable Sirens are the most feared pirate syndicate that sails on the turbulent waves of the Arcansea. This all-female pirate fleet has such a reputation that the crews of most ships that run into their vessels on the high seas voluntarily relinquish their cargo.

Organization

Each vessel of the Sable Sirens is an individual entity that is beholden only to the so-called admiral of their entire fleet, Captain Morana. Crews have the freedom to decide how they wish to engage in piracy across the Arcansea, making it seem as though chaos reigns within the coalition.

However, this is a deliberate strategy devised by Captain Morana to maximize the Sable Sirens' impact. She knows that the unpredictable nature of her crews keeps rival pirates, naval forces such as the Stoic Vigil, and the shipping lanes they prey upon constantly on edge. It's this element of surprise, of never knowing which port might be plundered next or when their ominous black sails might suddenly emerge from the horizon, that allows the Sable Sirens to strike terror into the hearts of anyone who sails the treacherous waters of the Arcansea.

For her invaluable leadership, Captain Morana demands a tithe from each crew upon a successful raid, every plundered ship and outpost growing her personal hoard.

Methodology

Even though women are generally physically weaker than men, the Sable Sirens are hardened sailors one and all, with many being accomplished duelists with a blade. But the true equalizer the sirens carry with them is a black powder that they pack into pouches, and which explodes violently when ignited, not unlike Ignisite, though the coloration of the powder would indicate that it isn't that volatile mineral.

The creation of this powder is a closely guarded secret of Captain Morana herself, who hand-picks the alchemists that produce and provide the powder for the crews of the fleet. This volatile substance is instrumental in their ruthless efficiency and has allowed them to overpower and out-terrorize even the most formidable foes. As a result, every crew in the fleet is equipped with this deadly powder, ensuring that the Sable Sirens are not to be underestimated even when another crew might seemingly be able to best them in a tussle.

When a siren vessel chooses a target, they approach it with the skill and cunning of experienced mariners. Under the shadow of night or amidst a raging tempest, they appear suddenly, their ominous black sails billowing in the wind. The crew operates in near-perfect unison, conducting lightning-fast boarding actions, or launching salvos of their devastating black powder against unsuspecting victims. Their cruelty knows no bounds, as they frequently spare no survivors, ensuring that word of their brutality spreads across the Arcansea like an ill omen, delivered via drifting ships crewed by corpses.

Opposition

There are few who have the gumption to openly oppose the Sable Sirens, but those who do have earned a reputation for their audacity. The most daring among these is the Seeker fellowship known as the Stoic Vigil, the seafaring knights of the church of Resounding Truth. While their actual mission is to guard the shoreline borders of the Black Forest, they do not sit idly by when the Sable Sirens threaten innocent sailors or coastal settlements. With their gilded armor and weapons, as well as their extensive training, the men and women of the fellowship match the sirens blow for blow.

Aside from the Stoic Vigil, several independent pirate hunter crews have also pledged themselves to the destruction of Captain Morana and her callous fleet.
