Nightmares
Of all the monsters that roam the Cursed Lands, none are as feared as the monsters known as Nightmares. Made up from 5+ different animals, these creatures have no natural order, no predetermined nature, and no resemblance to any other living creature. As a result of this, many die young, unable to adapt to the world around them. Those that do survive, however, become apex predators even in a land as dangerous as the Ulvenwald. Out of this chaos, true horrors come forth. Nightmares that can think, plot, and terrorize. These are the monsters parents tell their children about to keep them inside after dark, and also the monsters that children tell their parents about to do the same. When a Nightmare is on the hunt, no one is safe.
The Cathars Crusade has a standing order to exterminate them, but only with sufficient backup & support. None of them go down quickly or easily. Some of them don't go down at all.
