Syr Eirian Wellwood

Syr Eirian Wellwood was an elven knight who lived in Coedig during The First Calm, and a lifelong follower and devotee of Thabaci, who had been her family's chosen deity for generations.

Her Legend and Transformation

When Coedig came under attack by a brutal army led by a powerful warlock, and all seemed lost, Eirian was desperate to save her people. As the archers on the city walls were decimated, and the gate weakened, she ran to her temple and begged her high priestess, the oldest and wisest of the city clerics, to tell her how she could save the city. The priestess asked her what she was willing to offer Thabaci, should she be willing to intercede on their behalf, and Eirian offered "everything".   With a sad smile, the priestess annointed her forehead with holy oil, blessed her, and told her to walk out onto the highest point of the city wall and not to be afraid. And Eirian did. Immediately, the archers of the enemy turned their arrows on her, and she was hit in the shoulder and the leg. But when she clutched at her wounds, she was shocked to see that instead of blood and flesh, gleaming black scales were visible under the skin. As she leant forward, clutching the wall, she was shocked to see her fingers and nails grow into huge claws, and her skin tore and tore, revealing more and more scales, until to the horror and amazement of friend and foe alike, a huge black dragon stepped out of the body of Eirian.   Most of the enemy soldiers immediately turned and fled out of sheer terror, and the rest, the huge dragon easily slew. Then she flew after the fleeing soldiers and tore them to pieces as well, ensuring that they would never again pose a threat to her city.   But as she began to fly back to her city, she was horrified to see the appalled looks of the soldiers and citizens who had been her friends and comrades. Some even tightened their hands on their weapons, as if unsure whether to attack her. And that was when Eirian realised what she had given up. Not only her form, but her home too.   Grieving, she turned her back upon Coedig and flew away, vanishing over a distant mountain range, never to be heard from
