History

The history of Mythan Belanore is deeply intertwined with the ancient creation myths of Nehwon, a world where the boundaries between magic and reality blur, where gods meddle in the affairs of mortals, and where destiny is written in the stars yet constantly shaped by the hands of those who dwell below.   In the beginning, there was only the vast, unfathomable expanse of the multiverse, overseen by entities of immense power and incomprehensible motives known as the "Old Ones." Among these deities were Melkor and Salan, whose rivalry would forge the destiny of countless worlds. Nehwon, a realm of untold beauty and mystery, became the canvas upon which they would express their eternal contest.   Melkor, seeking to create beings of grace, wisdom, and power, brought forth the Gold Elves, also known as the Sun Elves. These beings were the epitome of elven purity, the original kind from which all other Elves would descend. They were called "die Kinder" by the gods, created to inhabit and steward the lands of Nehwon, reflecting Melkor's vision of order, beauty, and harmony. The Gold Elves, with their radiant presence and innate connection to the magic that flows through Nehwon, were to rule and nurture the world, guiding it towards a future envisioned by their divine patron.   Salan, not to be outdone, created Humans, imbuing them with resilience, ambition, and adaptability. Humans were crafted in Salan's image, destined to explore, conquer, and thrive across the face of Nehwon. This act not only marked the beginning of Human history but also set the stage for an eternal dynamic of rivalry and coexistence between Elves and Humans, each race seeing themselves as the true children of their respective creators.   The Old Ones, in their inscrutable wisdom, left behind portals to other worlds, weaving Nehwon into the vast tapestry of the multiverse. Ningauble of the Seven Eyes, a guardian created by the Old Ones, was charged with protecting the portal within Ningauble's Caverns. Ningauble, known as the "gossiper of the gods," played a crucial role in the unfolding story of Nehwon. With a penchant for stories and a network of spies and informants, Ningauble's influence extended far beyond the guardianship of the portals. His actions, whether guided by foresight or cunning manipulation, often set the course for events that would shape the destinies of both Elves and Humans.     In the age when the world was still whispering its first secrets, and the stars looked upon the lands of Nehwon with bright, curious eyes, there existed a harmony between the celestial bodies and the burgeoning life below. Among the pantheon of the Old Ones, beings of immense power who had laid the foundations of the universe, was Melkor, the Architect of Dreams. It was he, driven by a vision of creating a bastion of enlightenment and grace, who would come to found Mythan Belanore, a city that would stand as a testament to the beauty and potential of the world.   Melkor, with his gaze set upon the vast wilderness of Nehwon, saw a place where the river met the sea, where the earth's veins pulsed with raw magic, and where the fabric of reality was thin enough to weave threads of enchantment through it. It was here, at the mouth of the River Tilth, that Melkor envisioned a city unlike any other—a haven for the Gold Elves, his most cherished creations, and a beacon of hope and wisdom for all who sought refuge or knowledge within its bounds.   But Mythan Belanore was not to be created through divine might alone. Melkor believed that true beauty and strength came from collaboration and the sharing of visions. Thus, he descended to the verdant lands of Nehwon, cloaking his divine essence in a form that the inhabitants of the world would not fear. He walked among the Gold Elves, who were then a nomadic people, whispering to them dreams of a city that could be their home, a place where their culture, magic, and knowledge could flourish.   Inspired by Melkor's vision, the Gold Elves gathered at the chosen site, and together with Melkor, they began the great work of building Mythan Belanore. They sang enchantments into the stones and trees, coaxing them into shapes of elegant towers and graceful bridges. They blessed the waters of the River Tilth, ensuring it would always bring life and sustenance to the city. The Inner Sea's vast expanse was calmed by their spells, making it a serene backdrop to the city's splendor.   Melkor, in his wisdom, knew that the city needed protectors, guardians who could keep the peace and maintain the balance of natural and magical forces. From the celestial energies that flowed through the land, he shaped the Guardians of Mythan Belanore—beings of great power, bound to the city and its fate. Ningauble of the Seven Eyes was chosen to watch over the pathways between worlds, ensuring that the portals remained hidden from those with malice in their hearts.   As the city grew, its spires reaching towards the heavens, Melkor saw that his work was almost done. But one final gift he bestowed upon Mythan Belanore—a heart. Deep within the city, he placed a crystal of purest light, a fragment of his own divine essence, which would ensure that Mythan Belanore remained a beacon of hope, wisdom, and beauty for all eternity.   With the city founded and its destiny set upon its course, Melkor's form faded like the last stars at dawn, leaving behind a legacy that would endure through the ages. Mythan Belanore stood not just as a city, but as a symbol of what could be achieved when beings, mortal and divine, worked together towards a shared dream.   And so, through the ages, Mythan Belanore has thrived, a jewel by the sea, a place of magic and learning, where the legacy of Melkor, the Architect of Dreams, lives on in every stone, every tree, and in the hearts of all who dwell within its walls.
