Vampirism

Vampirism, as Lycanthropy, is not really a disease though many people consider it to be. It is really a blood curse that alters the cursed creatures mind. It is the most potent of blood curses.

Transmission & Vectors

There are only two ways to get vampirism, one is to be bitten by a vampire lord and drink their blood afterwards and the other is to be born from a vampire.

Causes

Vampire fangs are known to be able to extract blood from the body of their victims. What less people know about however, is the arcane properties of these fangs.

When the victim is bitten by the vampire, the creature extracts the blood from them and the curse carried in the fangs penetrates their body intertwining with the victim's blood.

Symptoms

Vampirism is not really a disease, however the host has the following effects:

  • Supernatural strength.
  • Crave for some sort of substance from living beings.
  • Surges of energy when they feed from this substance.
  • Lost of the necesity to eat and breath.
  • Heightened senses.
  • Lost reflection and shadow.
  • Heliophobia and skin burning when under the sun.
  • Complete stop of the aging process.

Treatment

Once you become a fully fleged vampire, there is no treatment that can help you.

Prognosis

Vampirism turns you from a living beign into an undead creature.

Hosts & Carriers

A common misconception is that only humanoids can carry the blood curse. This couldn't be further from the truth. Every living being with blood can be a host of vampirism. From a human to a gremishka, every single living creature can be affected as long as they have blood.

History

The transmission of the curse spawns a question, where did it come from? An elder scroll recovered from the ruined library of Linaris and dates back to the age of Acrasia is the only known document to give an explanation to the phenomenom.

The document describes how after the Divine Clash, the surface of Neoria was left in ruins and how The Weeping Mistress began her never ending grief. Her tears flooded the land and then solidified, creating a being of pure evil born from the ill-thinking of a broken goddess. The creature went on a killing spree until it was stopped by Louche's champion at the time, Fausto Hollowbark. However, the curse had already spread far an wide across the lands of Neoria.
