Everyone in Oqthcali has some type of unique ability (not necessarily powerful, but unique). Wealth and power can afford you greater and more unique abilities, but the randomness of birth may also bestow abilities never-before seen in the world. Some abilities are mundane and offer no special advantage whatsoever. Explosions from Soal are unpredictable, yet civilization depends on the energy harvested from its depths. Oqthcalians share a common sense of pride in their heritage as the dominant civilization in the local planetary system. However, oppression within the Oqthcalian classes along with fear of Soal’s eruptions have created politically and social instability on the planet.The Dark Side
There are two hemispheres on the planet, which does not rotate. The hemisphere facing Sol is pleasant and luscious. The opposite hemisphere is terrifyingly cold - a disastrous wasteland, though some of the poorest on Oqthcali do manage to survive in this hemisphere.
