Angel

Angels are a collection of species that originated from the realm of Heaven. They are the only species able to innately cast Holy Magic.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

All Angels greatly resemble humans but with a natural inclination to being physically well-built. Their wings, which can be magically hidden or extended, are usually made of bright white feathers that are incredibly soft to touch. Thanks to the holy energy within them, their bodies benefit from advanced healing. Seraphim, the most powerful angels, commonly have greater signs of their inner energy such as glowing eyes or veins. Nephilim, or half-bloods, benefit less from their inner energy than other angels.

Social Structure

Now that they are such a small and widely spread species, Angels lack a unifying belief or culture, instead blending in more wherever they choose to live. There were previously three 'classes' divided by the types of angels; Seraphim, Cherubim, and Nephilim, but these are now redundant.

Naming Traditions

The Angel's gave Humans the Hebrew language, and so their names usually share similarities and roots with Hebrew names, most commonly ending in '-iel'.

History

Angels once originated from Heaven, a holy realm that has existed for longer than any known record. It was perpetually locked in war with Hell and the Devils, a war which eventually spread to Earth. This triggered the Humans discovery of the supernatural, and the reveal of other species living among them all along, throwing the realms into long and tiresome wars.   Eventually Hell was defeated and completely destroyed shortly after the Convergence, allowing Heaven to live in relative peace until the Second Demonic Crusade, in which Demons invaded and occupied Heaven leaving it in ruin. The few remaining Angels fled to other planets and factions, only reclaiming their homeland later thanks to the Santori Protectorate. Heaven was in the process of rebuilding until the Cataclysm forced everyone to flee to the last remaining sector of the galaxy.   Without a homeworld once again, the Angels spread far and wide across both Terran and Coalition planets; with the majority choosing the more supernatural-friendly coalition. After the Dawn, Angels were given a seat on the Coalition Council of Species, with the Seraphim Manakel as their representative. Since Concord however their role in galactic politics has dwindled, as power moved from species to planets, which Angels themselves have none of. Now they drift independently and get by, maybe sometimes dreaming of restoring the Angelic Monarchy...
