Battle of Haven

Arguably one of the most catastrophic conflicts faced by the UEG, the Battle of Haven marked the ultimate end of the Triumvirate.

The Conflict

Prelude

By mid 2558, the UEG presence on the planet of Haven grew and multiple research bases were established all over the planet. News soon reached of another Triumvirate invasion fleet - this one much larger than before. What started out as a battle above Haven quickly dragged to the surface as multiple Triumvirate ships managed to enter the planet’s atmosphere and dispatched infantry to attack UDF establishments.

The Engagement

Assault on the Control Room

The leader of this Triumvirate remnant group, Rha Mantakir dispatched a special forces team to take Haven’s control room. The mission was successful, prompting the UDF to send in Fireteam Aqua and Kitty to retake the control room. The mission turned complicated when Haven’s sentinels arrived and engaged both parties, though ultimately UDF forces were successful in preventing the Triumvirate from gaining control of the control room. However they too were immediately repelled by sentinels - who had seemingly decided that both sides were of equal threat to Haven.

War on Haven

In the following days, the battle over Haven waged on, with it turning into a three-way war between the Triumvirate, UDF and sentinel forces. During the conflict, Fireteam Aqua lost a member, and the UDF lost territory to invading Triumvirate forces.
Rha Mantakir at some point managed to gain access to Haven's core where its primary control room lay. There, he activated a weapon which partially destroyed the surface of a human colony, before control over the weapon was rescinded by the installation's then-dormant AI, forcing the Triumvirate leader to retreat. The AI enacted emergency protocols which would see the brutal annihilation of all invading life forms on its surface, causing the planet's outer shell to re-materialise and block everyone off from space, nullifying warpspace jumps, and increasing the planet's production of sentinels a hundred-fold, which would be used to exterminate both the UDF and Triumvirate with extreme prejudice.

Terminus

A further series of conflicts took place, including the assassination of Rha Mantakir's lieutenants and generals, the further loss of members in Fireteam Aqua and the momentary capture of Dan and Kitty which resulted in Dan being teleported to Oblivion by the timely arrival of his brother Elijah. Endymion was also killed by a Triumvirate general. Despite this progress, both the UDF and the Triumvirate were losing ground rapidly to the sentinels, and it would only be a matter of time before they were all wiped off the surface of Haven. A plan was formed to capture the teleportation hub Rha Mantakir had previously used to gain access to the planet's core, deactivate the emergency protocol from there, and allow the UDF survivors to escape.
The last of the UDF and Triumvirate forces gathered at a gigantic canyon holding the teleportation hub - referred to as the Master Terminus. All out war ensued as UDF and Triumvirate ships, aircraft, ground vehicles and infantry clashed all over the vast arena, with the arrival of sentinels only worsening the conflict for both sides. Hours later, the UDF fleet lay in utter ruins, though what remained of their infantry had managed to secure the Master Terminus. The Destiny's Harbinger was of the last UDF ships to be destroyed, before Triumvirate infantry began to touch down to try wrestle the Terminus out of the control of Fireteam Aqua, their supernatural allies, and whatever remained of basic infantry.

Sacrifice

As the AI Sheila worked hard to bypass the Master Terminus’s shield doors, Rha Mantakir led what remained of the Triumvirate’s infantry and pushed the defenders deeper into the building. At this point, Aaron made a final stand against the invading forces, forcing his allies to find the gateway to the core while he brought them some time, which eventually led to his demise as he was brutally injured by Rha Mantakir's forces and personally executed by the Triumvirate leader himself.
Although unknown to the UDF, Haven's AI subtly guided the survivors to the core and allowed them to deactivate the planet's protocols, enabling them to send out a distress signal. Rha Mantakir and his army arrived shortly thereafter, but the AI attacked them with its sentinel armada, reducing the last of the Triumvirate to dust.
An echoing voice then boomed throughout the chamber as the planet's resident AI - the Custodian, spoke to the group and instructed them to leave and never return, lest they suffer the same fate as the Triumvirate.

Aftermath

A UDF fleet soon arrived and rescued the survivors, after which they quickly left Haven. With the Triumvirate all but destroyed at the cost of thousands of soldiers and a large number of military assets, the UDF was hesitant to call the outcome of the battle a victory.
