Therianthropy
The most commonly-known case of therianthropy is lycanthropy, but other cases of people with alternate animal forms do exist. From were-owls to were-tigers, numerous people across the globe are blessed (or cursed) with the ability to transform into an animal or a half-human hybrid.
Transmission & Vectors
People born to a therianthrope parent are not known to genetically acquire the condition. Only the untreated bite or exposure to the blood/saliva of a therianthrope can transform a person.
Symptoms
Shapeshifting into an animal or animal-human hybrid is the most obvious side effect of this condition. The shift can be controlled by those with a firm grasp on their feelings, but for more turbulent individuals who have not yet learned to control their emotions, feeling something very strongly may trigger an unwanted transformation. The full moon also causes urges to transform, but as with emotional triggers, therianthropes can learn to tame these notions.
Treatment
A vaccine exists to prevent therianthropy, but once the condition has been acquired, no known cure exists.
