Montrell works as a park ranger at Sequoia National Park and Mythical Creature Reserve in California. He is a fairly powerful mage, though few know it besides his father, who taught him most of what he knows. The two are very close and communicate on a daily basis. Montrell is generally rather shy, choosing only to open up to people who've taken the time to gain his trust, but once he decides he enjoys someone's company, he's extremely loyal.

Childhood
Montrell was born in California City, but the constant activity of the place always unsettled him, even as a child. People were everywhere at all hours of the day and night, scrambling around and living their lives in what Montrell percieved to be a giant mess of action and commotion. His young mind naturally turned inward as a means of escape. He imagined a world where life was peaceful and quiet, where he could live life at the pace he naturally preferred.
Adolescence
Montrell's parents took him to his beloved nature preserve and national park for the first time during his teenage years. It was around a three hour drive just to get to the entrance of the park, but as soon as he exited the car and took in the sights and smells of the forest, he fell in love. The days he spent touring the park with his family were like paradise. The feeling stayed long after he'd returned home and intensified the next time he convinced his family to go, then the next.
Current Day
When the time came for Montrell to attend college, he ultimately pursued a bachelor's degree in environmental education at California City State University. After that, he acquired a job as a park ranger at Sequoia National Park and Mythical Creature Reserve, thereby fulfilling a dream that had begun in his teens.
