MIND Link neural implant gives
Lightkeepers advanced thought processing as well as directly interfacing with their
Guardian Frame to access advanced functions. Players can purchase, research, craft, and discover MIND Link upgrades from various sources. These upgrades grant access to new
Skills and bonus traits. Some are extremely powerful and sometimes dangerous, particularly those available through
illicit hackers.
Expansion Slots
By default, the MIND Link does not have any Expansion Slots available, but it is possible to increase the number of Slots through various means. To gain additional Expansion Slots, Expansion Modules must be acquired and are a one-time use consumable to permanently add a slot. These can be obtained by completing difficult
Missions, defeating powerful
Enemies, or purchasing them from certain vendors. They are particularly rare and expensive.
Expansion Modules increase the number of slots on their MIND Link by one. Multiple Expansion Modules can be used to further increase the number of slots up to a maximum of five.
Synapse Modules
Applying Synapse upgrade modules to MIND Link Expansion slots is also a significant investment, and players should carefully consider which upgrades they want to prioritize before using their MIND Synapse Modules. Once an upgrade has been installed, it cannot be removed, only overwritten. Synapse Modules acquired through research, crafting, purchase, or discovery are a one-time use consumable to apply to the player’s MIND Link.
Synapse mods can range from passive bonuses to active skills. Some upgrades increase damage output or reduce cooldown times, while others may improve specific skills or provide a new ability entirely. They can be beneficial but also detrimental, affecting Synergy and other aspects of
Combat. Additionally, some upgrades may have limited uses before they are destroyed. Players can experiment with different Synapse upgrades and find the combination that works best for their playstyle.
